qualified and experienced individual to join
the organization as English Language Teaching
Project Officer.
Job Title: ELT Project Officer
Location: Abuja
Purpose of Job:
To support the direct and indirect delivery of
a portfolio of large scale and local ELT
projects, increasingly through partnership , to
meet the British Council's objectives and
targets and partner expectations in Nigeria.
To support a network of internal and external
service providers and partners to meet all
project targets.
Project delivery: To provide support for
projects and organise events to a high
standard and within deadline. To make
arrangements for visitors including booking
travel, accommodation and preparing
programmes.
Financial administration: to provide financial
support to the project managers, including
raising of purchase orders, getting quotes
from suppliers, tracking payments and
correcting mispostings.
Context and Environment:
The post will involve supporting a large scale
projects and in Nigeria under the supervision
of an English Language Teaching Project
Manager. The post will be based in Abuja but
will involve supporting teacher training events
to mainly state primary teachers in different
states, many of which are located in the North
of Nigeria.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
In line with EOD and other overarching
corporate policies:
Scorecard: To administer our monitoring and
evaluation tool called Scorecard. Collect and
record all data within deadline and according
to corporate standards.
Marketing and Communications: To ensure
that projects are marketed to the highest
standards in print (press, publications),
digitally (websites, social media, TV, radio)
and at events (conferences, workshops,
meetings).
Other administrative work: As required.
Key Relationships:
External
Ministry of Education , Universal Basic
Education Commission; State Universal
Education Boards, State Ministers of
Education, State and Local Government Area
training officers and supervisors , radio and
print media houses, other private sector
partners
Internal
coordination and cooperation with colleagues
in ELT team
liaison with finance colleagues to ensure that
all financial tasks and deadlines are fully met
Other Project Management Teams
Special requirements of the job:
Some unsocial hours, weekend work and travel
may be required.
Experience
Experience of organising projects or events.
Experience of basic financial administration.
Previous work experience in education
Skills and Knowledge
Good communication skills - Level 2
Computer Skills - Level 1
Project & contract management – Level 2
Competence in Hausa
Qualifications
Relevant post-secondary school qualification
